An enchantress, Cristina Branco draws listeners into her world with the sheer beauty of her remarkable voice, a musical instrument that cuts to the heart, at times pours salt on the wound and then soothes like a healing balm.
Bronco's music is not the suffering, melancholy and impotence in the face of fate that are the tragic emotions that people expect when listening to traditional fado music. Rather she uses her authentic interpretation to breathe new life into the fado tradition. With her beautiful voice and sensitive rendition, she aims to merge the lyrics with the fado music, to make someone experiencing them hear them as inseparable.
"Portugal's eminent fado chanteuse, Cristina Branco, has the kind of voice that makes people weep." - Time
